Your New Best Friend

When I returned to my office a couple of weeks ago after a lengthy absence in Australia, I met a curious sight as I walked down the path. I’ve saved it for you in the picture above. My goddaughter had prepared this for me, and at first sight it looked like Death of a Dolly (or Grave of Godmother, rather more worrying). Afterwards, though, I realized that it was a very special symbol of change, and most appropriate for the changes I’ve seen deriving from some of my work this year.

One of the subjects I discuss in my keynote speeches is anger, a taboo subject for many. Were you allowed to express your anger as a child? Or were you taught that this was inacceptable? Whatever your answer, few people can handle their anger or that of others very well. Anger is widely regarded as something inherently bad.

However, in the course of my research into anger over the past few years, and my life’s experience of it, I’ve learned that anger is not inherently bad at all. In fact, if you work with it right, it can become your new best friend. I’ve been able to assist a lot of people to turn their anger into a positive driving force, and I’ve seen some fabulous changes in those people as a result.

I’ve spoken on this subject a lot this year, and have found that people really want to know about this. So I plan to share some of my findings with you on this blog over the next couple of posts, starting next week.

I also plan to share one service or product or supplier that I particularly recommend with each coming entry. Some are services or suppliers here in Switzerland where I live, others are products or services which can be ordered from abroad. Here’s this week’s recommendation:

Pinkfisch (www.pinkfisch.com)
This is an online boutique for themed partyware for small (or larger) kids! It’s run from Zürich by two entrepreneurial Mums, Yasemin Diethelm and Gertrud Angerer (she’s got to be good, she already has ANGER in her name!). Their products and service are terrific. So if you want to spice up a birthday party for yourself or your kids, I can recommend them. You can email their online shop for further information: shop@pinkfisch.com or check out their website as listed above. I love the stripey stuff!
